2019: shipped a PERFECT product. Made $0.
2023: shipped a SH*TTY product. Making $30k MRR today.
Let me break it down:
The first thing we launched at BuddiesHR?
A clunky birthday bot for Slack.
Ugly, embarrassing, barely held together.
But it was minimal. And more importantly, it was viable.
We threw it out there anyway.
Not when it was pixel-perfect.
Not once every feature was gold-plated.
We sold it as-is, got paying customers, and actually listened to feedback.
Guess what happened?
We learned.
We iterated.
We fixed real pain points—NOT the ones in our heads.
That’s how you go from “shitty MVP” to product that customers call perfect.
And let’s be real:
PERFECT doesn’t mean polished.
PERFECT means it solves their problem, not your ego trip.
Founders:
↳ Stop skipping validation.
↳ Stop perfecting in a vacuum.
↳ Go read “The Mom Test”.
↳ Go talk to real people.
↳ Ship your embarrassing V1.
You’ll get further with a shitty product and actual customers than you ever will chasing some imaginary “perfect.”
Real feedback beats fake confidence every single time.
