A strong culture is when someone on your team says:
« Your idea's shit. Here's why. »
Most founders say they want that.
Very few can handle it.
I've been there.
You push for speed, because the runway's ticking.
You want that feature out, now.
And then your devs push back, calmly, professionally, but firmly.
They think long-term.
They care about product quality.
They see risks you're ignoring.
You feel resistance.
But if you're smart, you shut up and listen.
Because disagreement isn't dysfunction, it's maturity.
That tension between urgency and quality,
it's how good decisions are made.
Not with consensus, not with ego, but with friction.
At BuddiesHR, I'm lucky.
Fabien challenges me every single day.
Not to slow me down, but to sharpen the plan.
If everyone around you says yes,
you're not building a culture.
You're building a cult.
