AI is already replacing designers.
We just rebranded ALL our Slack apps logos for $20.
SO... we needed new logos for all our BuddiesHR Slack apps.
Instinct was to call up our network’s best designers, drop a few grand, do it “right.”
My co-founder just says: “Did you see the ChatGPT update? Let’s test it.”
I literally laughed my *ss off.
No way you’re getting pro logos from a $20 ChatGPT sub... right?
Designers train for years, hone the craft, sweat Figma nightmares.
Five minutes later, I’m eating crow.
We went from “should we hire a $500/day freelancer” to “let’s just crush it in-house with AI for twenty bucks.”
Guess what? It WORKED.
Are they all perfect? No.
Are they better than what you’ll churn out with an overpaid “creative” dragging revisions for weeks? HELL F*UCKING YES.
Here’s the hard reality no one wants to admit:
1/ AI is the new default designer.
If you’re still charging $800 for a new Slack logo, your days are numbered.
2/ We didn’t just cut costs. We moved at lightspeed.
Iteration cycles? Hours, not weeks. Zero email chains begging for concept v17.
3/ Most of what founders obsess over “perfecting” is nothing but ego.
Customers do not care. You need to ship, not romanticize another hex code.
The “creative profession” is not sacred. Especially not at $20/month.
If you can’t adapt, you’re already obsolete.
This is how we did it at BuddiesHR:
↳ $20
↳ 30 minutes
↳ All new app branding
Designers, there’s only one move:
Make yourself 10x as fast, or brace for irrelevance.
Welcome to the future.
Ship more, argue less.
