Aspiring founders: STOP thinking about VCs 🤬
Every startup needs:
1. The ability to build.Â
2. The ability to sell.Â
3. A great idea (preferably generated internally).
Most people think that pre-revenue startups need:
- A beautiful brand
- Flawless UX design
- Well-thought out scale ops
- A modern priced tech stack
That's not true.
You need to:
1. Build something someone is willing to pay for
2. Figure out how to get in front of themÂ
3. Sell them something tomorrow
What you think you need and what you ACTUALLY need are polar opposites:
FOUNDERS THINK THEY NEED:
1. Hefty infrastructure and robust systems
2. A big team of outsourced supportÂ
3. $$$ from VCs or angels ASAP
WHAT YOU REALLY NEED:
1. A laptop
2. A customer
3. A working AppSumo account
The magic happens when:
1. One founder can build
2. One founder can market/sell
Or even better, both founders can build, market, and sell!
Remember:
Funding follows traction, not the other way around.Â
