At first, I thought BuddiesHR couldn't make more than $5k MRR.
It's now doing $30k+ ^^'
When we launched, all we had was Billy, an automation to celebrate birthdays on Slack.
Sounds silly, right?
And our pricing was 4x lower than it is today.
I thought we'd hit a ceiling in months.
Then we did 3 things:
↳ We listened to what people asked for
Clients kept saying « it'd be cool if you could also do X or Y ».
We shipped what they needed, not what was trendy.
↳ We built multiple apps instead of a « one big app » monster
It gave us focus, 7 acquisition channels, and a better UX inside Slack.
↳ We introduced the « all apps » package
Suddenly, we weren't selling one tiny tool.
We were selling a suite.
The perceived value exploded, and so did revenue.
The lesson?
Just keep building.
The product you start with isn't the product that will get you to your goal.
