Co-founder relationships matter more than you think... 🥶
I've heard horror stories from many startups and have faced tough times myself before truly understanding this.
Fortunately, I've been very lucky to team up with Fabien.
Everyone needs a Fabien in their life 😂
Jokes aside, we share a deep alignment on what success looks like, both professionally and personally.
This explains why sometimes we don't even need to speak to understand each other.
The top reason I hear from startups that failed due to co-founder relationships is a mismatch in core values.
This means you may disagree on fundamental issues such as:
- How to treat employees (i.e., the company culture)
- Interaction with others (vendors, consultants, friends, family)
- How to communicate your feelings
...and more.
People often advise having a diverse co-founding team in terms of skills and competencies.
BUUUUULL-SHIT 🙅♂️
What you truly need is a team aligned in core values and a willingness to learn whatever is necessary for your company to succeed (whether it's sales, engineering, design, etc.).
Agree?
