If I had to start from ZERO in 2025, here's what I'd do:
1/ Read The Mom Test and run customer discovery in a crowded market.
Why a crowded market?
↳ Means there's demand
↳ Means you can out-learn, out-listen, out-hustle
Nobody remembers the "original"—we remember the one who solves pain better.
2/ MVP? Forget custom code.
I'd hack it together with no-code tools in a weekend.
It's not supposed to be pretty, it's supposed to get punched in the face by real users.
3/ I'd close my first customers from those discovery calls.
You already know what hurts them. Now invoice them.
4/ Learn to code or recruit a tech co-founder who lives, eats, breathes the same pain.
No room for "meh we'll see" energy—bring someone who treats launch day like D-Day.
5/ Hit cold outbound like my life depends on it.
Not 10 emails. Not 50. 100.
You want momentum? Talk to people until your jaw is sore and your inbox hates you.
6/ Then? Inbound. Scale what works.
SEO. Content. Paid ads. Compound your learnings—but don't touch these until you've closed the first 100 people by hand.
Excuses?
They're dead in 2025.
Every playbook you'll ever need is public, free, proven.
You want to build a real business, not a LinkedIn fairytale?
Stop fantasizing.
Go do it.
This is literally what we did at BuddiesHR
No secret sauce, just relentless focus.
Brutality > Perfection.
Execution > Ideation.
Momentum > Motivation.
Still waiting for permission?
You'll still be waiting when I'm at $30k MRR again.
