If your North Star Metric isn't revenue, you're losing.
I don't care if you're pre-launch, pre-revenue or pre-whatever.
If you're building a startup, your job is to make money.
Not to stare at vanity graphs.
PMF? Cool.
NPS? Fine.
Active users? Nice.
But none of that pays the bills.
When we started BuddiesHR, our weekly metric was revenue.
Even when it was zero.
Because staring at a big fat zero hurts.
And that's the point.
You need to feel that pressure.
You need to confront reality.
You need that weekly reminder that you're still a nobody.
Founders who track everything but revenue are just hiding.
They build roadmaps, features, pretty dashboards.
But they don't sell, they don't charge, they don't ask for money.
Revenue is clarity.
Revenue is feedback.
Revenue is truth.
So if you're scared to put that number on the slide every Monday,
you're not ready to win.
