It took me some times to understand that trust is not binary, trust is…
a gauge 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩⬜️⬜️ (80%)
We often think of trust as either being completely present or utterly absent.
But here’s the kicker: Trust operates on a spectrum, and everyone's needle starts at a different place.
For some people, their trust gauge is always on full.
They are the "trust by default" folks.
They start at 100%.
These are the people who lend you their car the moment you move in next door. 🚗
Others?
They start at zero.
🚫 Their suspicion is relentless.
They need undeniable proof before they bump you up even a notch.
And then, there's me.
I start at around 80%.
Not too high to be naive, not too low to be closed off.
It’s the golden middle ground where I’m optimistic yet cautious.
Sure, starting at 80% can be risky.
But I’m optimistic about human nature and prefer to see the glass half-full.🍷
Here’s a glimpse into my mind:
- Comfortable enough to let you in
- Cautious enough to be vigilant
- Always ready to adjust the needle
Why am I sharing this?
Because understanding where your trust gauge starts can redefine your relationships, both personally and professionally.
Trust isn’t a light switch.
It's more like a volume knob.
Turn it up or down as you get to know someone.
What do you think your default trust percentage is? Drop it in the comments! 💬
