Too many startups fail because no one knows they exist.
Your job as a founder is to shamelessly market your startup every single day.
If you’re not showing up, you’re leaving revenue on the table.
I mean:
↳ 90% of buyers do research before ever reaching out
↳ 60% won’t talk to sales unless they’ve seen your brand
↳ 80% check your site or socials before replying
Most of us mean well, we don’t want to spam people.
I’ve been there myself, the shy software developer who didn’t want to piss anyone off.
But your startup is different. It’s survival. You *must* market it every day.
Skip it and your company dies in the next 2 years (if not sooner).
Now you might be wondering: what can you actually do to market it?
Here’s my go-to list of things to try:
↳ cold emailing
↳ LinkedIn messaging
↳ posting and commenting on Twitter
↳ Reddit
↳ adding your startup on directories or marketplaces
Spend at least 50% of your time on this (if not 100%).
You probably noticed I didn’t mention cold calling.
I hate it.
I’m proud of hitting 37k MRR with BuddiesHR without a single cold call.
But if you can handle it, I strongly recommend doing it. Don’t be a dumbass like me lol.
Hope you don’t see me as a spammer 😇 do you?
