"Why don't you take a regular job like everyone else?"
At the beginning of my entrepreneurial journey, this is what people kept asking me.
And when you're just getting started — without traction, revenue, or certainty — it’s one of the hardest questions to face.
People. Just. Don't. Understand.
So, here are 5 reasons why it paid off 10x to not have taken a regular job:
1. No salary cap – Instead of waiting for a 3% annual raise, I get to scale revenue as much as I can. I’m not a millionaire yet, but I fully expect to be before I turn 33 (currently 31).
2. Freedom to experiment – I started as a software engineer, but building a business forced me to diversify my skills. Sales, marketing, SEO—I had to learn it all. No corporate job would have given me this range.
3. Location independence – No office, no commute. I can run my business from anywhere, as long as I have my laptop and Wi-Fi.
4. Flexible schedule – No pointless meetings. I structure my day around high-impact work—and my personal goals, like running a semi-marathon and mastering the handstand.
5. Direct impact – In a job, you're a piece of the machine. In a startup, every decision moves the needle. Success or failure is on me, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Would I do it again? 100%, no hesitation.
Anyway, now that I make big $$$, no one is ever asking this f****** question 😏
